Personality Shoes

I have an extremely talented friend who finished decorating these babies for me!
I'm absolutely obsessed.
It's almost like I want to high kick my feet into everyone's face so they can notice my shoes.

****

Natalie and I made a trip to the store today. I give the cashier my credit card only to have him acting strange. He practically demanded to see some I.D. He was honestly scoffing in his head thinking "why does a 15 year old have a credit card?!" 15... seriously? I look 15?! That is 6 years too young! I'm 21 punk! Hello let me flash my sideways license around your face one more time in case you didn't catch that. He tried to be all conversation about things after figuring out that I was older then him and I wanted to shove the fact that I'd already gotten a degree in college and am halfway done with the next... 15?
I know people are thinking "Hey when you're old you'll look really young. Take it as a compliment." But guess what, I'm not old right now. I'm a 21 year old who won't be taken seriously because I'm getting mistaken as a 15 year old. Such a bitter sweet situation.

****

When is the last time you watched Swan Princess? That movie has some great lines, completely enjoyable. Sometimes I forget how funny these old Disney movies are. (I know, Swan Princess isn't Disney but it fits into that same style/category.)

Did anyone use to watch all the credits roll by just waiting for this beauty?
Just a warning, they did not include this anywhere in the DVD, not even the special features. I was heartbroken. What were they thinking?

Sayid

Every time I work at the mall I come home with cravings to watch LOST.
Sayid works at a store next to me.

Mousy

Meet Jerry. (You know, like Tom and Jerry, the cartoon.)
He's a new addition to our home.
Question: What girl would ever answer a guy to prom by giving him a mouse in a mouse wheel?
Answer: Whoever Nate is taking to prom.

We didn't know what to do with Jerry and afraid of him getting out of his box, we put tin foil over the top and poked appropriate air holes.
We also fed Jerry croutons.

For an extra measure we stuck the box inside a tote. (We shut him up in Natalie's room for the night and I would've felt terrible if Jerry got out and was wondering around in Natalie's room.)
See that big hole near the bottom side of the box. That was Jerry's doing.

It's a good thing we stuck the box in a tote because later when I went down to check on him, he was sitting on top of the box. Yeah we freaked out a little.
Nate put another crouton inside the box to get Jerry in there again.

Well, Jerry only got to spend the night at our house. Mom made sure that he was disposed of and gotten rid of before she got home.
Our first option was to feed him to the Larsen's snake. (Terrible sounding right?) But alas, he was too small.
So we released him into the wild (a field). I don't know how he's going to survive without his croutons. Maybe we should have tied some to his tail for a meal later.

Day 13

A description of what's currently in your purse.

Well, since I forgot mine up at my apartment... I can't tell you in exact detail. All I really know is wallet, chapstick, face powder, and probably bobby pins. I know, so boring.

Homework

Homework assignment for Thanksgiving break: de-junk room. Serious de-junking too.
And it's begun.
I think there must be some health code violation for keeping the mask used to knock you out before a bone marrow transplant. I've had that mask for 9 years exactly. Sentimental, but sick.
What about this, my very first retainer from 5th grade. Really? Why would I keep that for so long?!
Old letters from my cousins. Those are absolutely hysterical to read. For sure keeping them.
My 3-animals in 1 sculpture. Yes that's right. Body of a penguin, neck of a zebra, head of a toucan.
I found a memoir book about myself that I had to write in jr. high, and I wrote that I was going to get married in either the San Diego temple, or the Hawaii temple. Oh yeah, I'm going all out. I hope you all can make it to my wedding.
I found art I did when I was 9 years old.
I also found these clown dolls that were mine and Heathers, and I want to say these came from Grandma Crosland. But I'm not positive. They're small, stuffed body but with a porcelain face. Just check out these beauties.

I think all this de-junking will be good for me. If nothing else, extremely interesting.

Epic Fail

So I have a new job.
I work at a kiosk in the mall.
Which is probably exactly what you imagine how working at a kiosk in the mall would go...
And I keep closing which equals slow hours
But, hey, good-looking working the kiosk next to me!
And what else do I have to do besides check him out, look for ring...good, no. Age guess... no idea but RM? Probably.
Tall, dark hair... you get the picture.
He keeps walking around his kiosk while reading a book, dang I wish I had brought my book... maybe the hours would go by a little faster.
Wait what? He keeps staring into American Eagle. Gosh dang it that can only mean he's watching a girl, like how I'm being creeper and watching him, except he probably knows the girl, and I don't know him.
(I'm really not that creepy, but it's the mall and what better to do than people watch?)
Closing time finally comes and of course there's a girl with him. blar
Background information you should know... it's my first time closing by myself. When you close a kiosk you have to un-hinge the overhead stuff so it comes down (please like 5'1 me could reach that... grab the chair). You then have to take this giant tarp and hook it into the stupid hooks, that are again clear above my reaching abilities...
So I'm taking my sweet time closing up the register...hoping he'll leave fast so I won't have to make a fool of myself. But when do things ever happen the way we want them to? So I get going on putting up that tarp.
Drag chair over
climb up
hook tarp
jump down
drag chair
climb up
yank on tarp wires
hook tarp
jump down
repeat
I come to the end of this ridiculous business and find that I've put the tarp on upside down. *grumble, exasperated sigh* So I start taking it down again.
Out of my peripheral vision I can see handsome and the girl walking over...gosh dang it again! No just leave! I know I look like an idiot but I can handle things!
"Hey you need some help?"
"Yes"

So he gets it up there way more efficiently and guess what else, the girl is a sweetheart. Way nice, really pretty, the kind that makes you feel bad cause he's got such a great girl already and now you have no chance.
They leave me as I zip up the tarp and then I ran into them again outside! He's all..."hey there she is!"
(yes I know I'm the moron that can't figure out how to close my own kiosk and now I feel utterly ridiculous, hi how are ya?)
I just said thanks for the help and went on towards the car.
But hey if I see him again I can say hi to him now, instead of casually noting him (not stalking thank you).

New Word

"Scream"

I recently watched Singing in the Rain and Emily and I noticed a phrase that they kept using. We decided it needs to be brought back.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6CuBK0cgX4&feature=PlayList&p=F69615AA486DE537&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=42

check out the video around 3:52..."This is a scream"

So things that are lame, retarded, sucked, horrible... you get the picture... are now a scream.
Example: Finals weeks is gonna be a scream.

I won't even start into how stressed and crammed my days are with studying right now.

Some Things

There are only 4 weeks left in this semester... scary. I think the class that scares me the most is english. ha compared to anat and phys you must think how? But at least for now, the final paper that we're suppose to work on all semester... yes I have barely done anything for it. Oh I have my topic no worries, but even my topic is a little daunting. My teacher wanted us to write about something in our field that we're going into. Some argumentative issue that we can write about. Let me just tell you that in the field of radiology there aren't too many huge debates going on that are really worth a papers worth of research. But I did find one where they've been debating the use of the functional MRI verses the Wada Test for pre-surgical tests in the brain. So interesting to me, but the dang medical language in the articles are daunting! I have to dissect each term to figure out what they're actually saying, and somehow I have to transfer that into a paper and make it understandable to people who have no knowledge of the field AND make it interesting?! My friend keeps teasing about how much of a 'page turner' my papers gonna be... Yeah I'm worried.

In Anatomy and Physiology we've been learning the muscles. And I've been introduced into a new way of studying.
Penning out the muscle names on my legs! It honestly works wonders. People gave me weird looks, but now when I hear the muscle name I can look at my leg and see where it would be if it was still written. Don't worry I'm not cheating and I got all the pen off before church.

So a problem we've been coming across in our apartment is that we often forget we have food in the fridge. It leads to horrible discoveries like this...
Yeah I'm disgusted too don't worry. We had to throw away a few other dishes along with the cake. Any salad that I buy seems to get gross at a much faster rate than it ever did at home. I've given up buying salad for the time being until I know I'm going to eat the whole bag before it goes bad.

Aubrey is still being Aubrey. I love rooming with my cousin. We are both just layed back about things so it's really easy to live with her. Next semester we're moving up to Royal Crest with 4 new roommates! It's nice to live with people you know and I'll be sad not to live with my girls right now, but I like being in new situations, new people, new ward... bring it.

We always seem to encounter one problem or another when baking cookies. Either too big so they squish up against each other making square cookies, or not enough chocolate chips...resulting in cookies with one sad lonely chocolate chip.

Ashley came into town last weekend and stayed with us before AFY so we took her to the sand dunes! And I think colorful sunglasses are the best. They're legit.

I think my favorite song overall this semester is Something Good Can Work: by Two Door Cinema Club.

Things to Love

I love good smelling shampoo and conditioner. It's almost like I crave it.

I love nail polish and painting my nails. My toes are currently teal with white flowers, and my fingernails are red.

I love skinny tire bikes and in two weeks I get to go home and fix mine up with my dad.

I love playing racquetball. Especially when it's my dad teaching me brilliant technique.

I love my yard and I will sorely miss it this summer. This is the first summer I won't be there.

I love that my roommate has crazy sleeping habits.

I love my college bread spread.

I love goldfish.

I love paninis and have quenched my craving this weekend by having them 3 of the 4 days I was home. My parents got a panini maker and it's absolutely wonderful.

You know that bread that you dip in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette, yeah I love that too and had that over the weekend.

I love things that are less known.  Whether it's books, music, or movies, the less known the better.

Quirks Of Me

I brush my teeth in the shower and I love it. Why wouldn't anyone enjoy feeling so thorougly clean?

I'm very fond of my bookshelf. Dusting it is a ritual where I lovingly move my books off and on the shelf while reminiscing over the stories I enjoy.

I have to read something every night before I go to sleep. Even if it's only a couple of pages. Any amount of reading will suffice. But it has to happen.

I am always reading a book. There are few times when I am not.

I very seldom/almost never take off my rings, and the few times I do and forget to put them back on... I spaz out until I get them back on my fingers. My hands feel awkward without my rings, I don't like it.

I love converse shoes. Even though I'm a poor college student with the knockoff versions, I still have some legitimate converse all stars. I like vans too but since I already own converse I feel like I'd be betraying them if I started wearing vans also. So I'm a converse girl.

I adore old leather books. I found a bookstore in Provo on Center Street that has a back corner, just full of old leather books. Oh how I wish I owned that corner.

Music is a passion. I transition through phases of music. Broadway, oldies, rock, hip-hop, hawaiian, chill, acoustic, radio, instrumental, and any other phase that has no real definition. The worst phase though would be no knowing what phase I'm in, the middle of the transitioning. Those are lame music days.

I collect face cards, smashed pennies, and fortunes from the fortune cookes.

I like to think that Switzerland, Hawaii and Goblin Valley are all tied for my home away from home.

I have to be able to see a clock at night. It drives me crazy if I don't know what time I randomly wake up during the middle of the night. I need exactness.

I hang up my shirts in rainbow order, with matching colored hangers.

Wisdom Teeth

Today was the removal of my wisdom teeth. Exciting no? I'd just like to say that I'm extremely glad I was put asleep. My two lowers were both impacted and part of the bone had to be chipped off, and my uppers were partial bone impacted. And with my size and weight, if I had stayed awake and they given me all the pain meds they could and if I could still feel pain, ohhh that would've been bad. I would've had to go back and have them finish up the job! Good grief no, lets get this done in one throw please.

But it did, so that's grand. I don't remember too much. Mom recorded enough of me to show what my true thoughts were. Firstly Jon, I just wanted to talk to him and make his day better. That boy likes to think that he can do everything all the time. He wears himself out. But he's amazing anyways, aced his test today. The other thing I was concerned with a lot while I was out-of-it was if the doctors talked about me behind my back while I was asleep... I was so sure that they did. I'll have to post the video once I figure how to get it onto my computer though. We all had good laughs watching it on the tv with the family... good times.

Updates

Well, right now in life I'm living at home, inbetween semesters at BYU Idaho. I go back to school mid April until the end of July. And thank goodness I've found things to keep me busy. Three days a week I watch my neighbors autistic boy and get paid from the state for that. Which is great, I'm making more money there then I did at my old job. The other two days of the week I tutor a girl in math. She's a junior in high school taking algebra 2. And then sometimes I fill in shifts at my old job when they need me too. So altogether it's been good having these jobs. I got a lot to earn to pay off my school loan.
I'm also taking two institute classes at UVU, which have been so great for me. I miss the school atmosphere so just being in a class learning something again is wonderful. I'm also dating someone amazing right now. He keeps my nights busy, but hey that's great. Before I met him I was bored to tears.
My birthday was last thursday, so I'm 19 now!
But yeah, I guess there's some updates for you.

Pinch

The job I have right now involves watching my neighbors’ autistic son, Spencer, who is 17. He’s a big kid, meaning height, but he’s also pretty severely autistic. He doesn't talk much and when he does it’s either a direct answer to whatever you asked him, or he’s reciting lyrics/lines from a movie he’s memorized. Spencer has a hard time expressing himself with his difficulty of speech so he finds other ways to get your attention… like pinching.
Now I’ve heard about this killer pinch and I’ve seen it in action but Friday, I experienced it. And yes it hurts.

Solitaire

So today I was playing Solitaire. And in one of the games I couldn't flip over any of the cards already down, and I went through the deck and after it flipped over the last 3 cards, it told me I lost. I didn't move ONE card. I didn't even know that was possible of happening. Not even a chance with that set up. Dang.

Rexburg

Well, 2 weeks left for fall semester. Crazy. It's gone by so fast. The roommies and I have decided to make our weekends a little more fun, since we only have two left. There's a little bowling alley in the MC building so we went to try it out! The picture has horrible resolution because it was taken with katie's phone, but no worries. We had a good time. It was the original gang, Katie, Caira, Spencer, Quinton, and me. Felt like the beginning of the semester again.
The song I'm obsessed with right now is Hey, Soul Sister: by Train. Katie and I play it over and over all day long. It's marvelous.
Next weekend we are going to go ice skating. I'm stoked. I haven't been ice skating forever.
It still hasn't started snowing yet... I'll have to check the weather forcast again! It's cold though, dang that wind chill. My favorites are the gaps in actual temperature to "feels like" temperature. Last night it was 15 degrees but felt like 3 degrees. Great to know as you start walking outside. I always thought it was kind of funny having a 'feels like' temperature. Who decides that? Ahh yes I'm going to say it feels approximately 3 degrees outside right now despite the actual temperature of 15.... But I did some research, and yes, there is a scientific way to determine the "feels like" temperature. How heart warming.

R.I.P. Mack Daddy

R.I.P. Mack Daddy, our beloved Betta fish who died yesterday morning.....
We decided to hold a funeral for him.

This is what Mack Daddy looked like when we first bought him...
This is what he looked like yesterday morning upon finding him dead... :(

So Katie really wanted to do a program, the whole legitimate deal with this fish funeral. So we let her. I don't know if you can see the quote that Katie found for our program but this is what it says, "Fish die belly upward, and rise to the surface. It's their way of falling."

Mack Daddy had finally floated to the top, belly upward by this time, so we stuck paper over his vase, at least until the viewing... haha we had the table all decorated for him! It was a shrine really.
Aubrey, with her mad rap/poetry skills whipped up a poem for Macker so we could read it during the program. This is how it went down....
Mack Daddy was a fish of class
He swam around proudly in the vase of glass.
To everyone who saw him, he was a friend
Sadly he didn't know his days would end.
We're not sure how he died but we have some thoughts
So we're reading this poem as his body rots.
Maybe it was the whirlpool we made in his tank
He seemed to enjoy it, and the next day he sank.
Or maybe it was the waffle maker that gave too much heat
It cooked all his insides, now his heart won't beat another beat.
Or maybe we fed him so much that we was loaded
And he got so fat that his stomach exploded.
Either way Mack Daddy died and gone is his soul
We bless him a good trip as he travels down the toilet bowl.

This is Quin trying to show remorse for our dead fish, but secretly he was planning on murdering the fish anyways, he just died before Quin could kill the fish himself!

We had cake, popcorn, Rollo's, and punch afterwards :)

Our good ole FHE brothers who came to support!
We're still not sure how Macker died, but he have some ideas...
Idea #1: Over fed by Katie
Idea #2: Cooked by my waffle iron
Idea #3: Freak accident with Katie's whirlpool 'game'
Idea #4: Heart attack from always flaring up at himself with his reflection
Idea #5: Suicide because Katie called him 'baby'

Some Things

So... I read the wrong time to cook the cookies... and I thought they turned out to be a lovely color!

And here's my pumpkin!

Let's Dance

So my roommies and I were going through my videos I've taken last night, because they're all untitled... so we needed to fix that. I came across this one. Story: I was sitting at the kitchen table, and I happened to look up and out through the blinds. This guy was out there dancing his little heart out like crazy. I couldn't help but record him. Except it took me forever to find my camera so I missed most of the good dancing :( But I thought the video included some of his excellent moves.

My favorite thing in the morning is seeing katie's various sleeping positions. They kill me.
So I have this roommate....who is still learning about the dishwasher. She thought it was full so she washed and stacked a mountain of dishes..... The dishwasher was stark empty. I had to laugh at the scene.

Gifts

I sleep in between my morning classes. That one hour nap saves me.

Woke up this morning to find this outside our door. The little star in the middle says 'dave'. Okay none of us know a dave. And it says 'we' love you. But only one name? But inside this tin foil wrapped suprise was.... mashed up lemon bars? Yeah weird.

Snow

It snowed last night and enough to stick a little this morning. This is what I opened the door too along with bitting wind and more wet snow coming down. Nothing stuck to the sidewalks and now all the snow has melted but still... beginning of October? With green leaves still, no fall. Summer to winter.

We saw this sign at Kmart. You know normally sale prices are...cheaper...then the original price. But hey maybe not. What do I know.
