Life of Pi
In theaters November 21st.
I honestly love this book. I know some people find the book questionable but I love to idea of using your imagination to help you overcome a problem, a tragedy, a loss. It's the same in the movie The Fall, where they tell a story and in the story they find their way to overcoming their problems. It's the same in Chocolat, where the little girl has an imaginary pet kangaroo with a bad leg that keeps her company as she moves constantly with her mom. Only when they finally settle and put down roots does her pet kangaroo recover and hop away.
I'm not sure how the movie will turn out. It looks promising so far. I'm definitely going to see it.

Personality Shoes
I have an extremely talented friend who finished decorating these babies for me!
I'm absolutely obsessed.
It's almost like I want to high kick my feet into everyone's face so they can notice my shoes.

Natalie and I made a trip to the store today. I give the cashier my credit card only to have him acting strange. He practically demanded to see some I.D. He was honestly scoffing in his head thinking "why does a 15 year old have a credit card?!" 15... seriously? I look 15?! That is 6 years too young! I'm 21 punk! Hello let me flash my sideways license around your face one more time in case you didn't catch that. He tried to be all conversation about things after figuring out that I was older then him and I wanted to shove the fact that I'd already gotten a degree in college and am halfway done with the next... 15?
I know people are thinking "Hey when you're old you'll look really young. Take it as a compliment." But guess what, I'm not old right now. I'm a 21 year old who won't be taken seriously because I'm getting mistaken as a 15 year old. Such a bitter sweet situation.
****
When is the last time you watched Swan Princess? That movie has some great lines, completely enjoyable. Sometimes I forget how funny these old Disney movies are. (I know, Swan Princess isn't Disney but it fits into that same style/category.)
Did anyone use to watch all the credits roll by just waiting for this beauty?
Just a warning, they did not include this anywhere in the DVD, not even the special features. I was heartbroken. What were they thinking?

The Trolley Song
Remember how I was obsessed with this Judy Garland song earlier this summer?
Well, here's another song that I became obsessed with as well.
The Trolley Song
Mom surprised me with a gift she found at an antique store: sheet music for The Trolley Song from the movie Meet Me In St. Louis starring Judy Garland.
Completely fantastic.
Judy Garland, she's brilliant.

Freedom and a Memory
Remember how I was having a really hard time with my job? Well, after I posted that my sister called me the next morning to talk with me about how things were going. She told me I should just get a different job! I know that seems completely obvious, but I honestly thought and felt like I was trapped in this job and wasn't going to be out of there anytime soon. Which added to the dread. But then it was a light bulb and I thought, "this is America, I can get a different job if I want!" I know, little ridiculous that it hadn't struck me before. So last Saturday was my last day working, and now I am free of that job. I haven't heard back from hardly any of the places that I applied to so I'm still looking. I would really love to find any type of work in a hospital or radiology office so I can work more towards what I'm going into. Find a job that will help me with my career. We'll see how that goes. But it's nice to be free for these next few days before my family jets off for a vacation. Once I get home I'll start to job search again. Any suggestions?
On another note, I found this movie on youtube today. Can I tell you how much I love this song? When I was visiting my dear cousin Caitlyn in Georgia when we were both very young, we decided we wanted to learn this song! Well, the lyrics are absolutely no where online and we couldn't find anything about it. (I think this was 8 years ago or so and I'm sure the internet was nothing like it is now.) Anyways, we stayed up until 2 or 3 that night, watching this scene on VHS, pausing it, writing down the lyrics we could remember, starting the scene up again while trying to write everything, pausing, writing, rewinding, over and over again until we had written down all the lyrics ourselves. Next we went on to memorize the different parts and perfect the enunciation. I sung the guys lines (because I was slightly sick and couldn't sing high at all) and my cousin took over the girls lines. We performed it the next morning to my aunt and anyone around that would listen to us. To this day we still slightly remember the lyrics and laugh about that night every time we talk about it. I love spending time with cousins.

Bella
Okay so remember how my dad has this talent for finding amazing movies that I love? Well, here's another one. Bella. If I wouldn't have had work in 15 minutes after watching the film...flat out would have cried. Wouldn't have even cared. Except for I had to go to work so my eyes just brimmed with tears. It's a gorgeous movie with beautiful statements about family and children. The characters have depth, and meaning. I feel like I look for that a lot now. Are the characters stock, or flat? Or do they seem realistic and developed? What morals does the movie represent?
Anyways, the movie is completely worth a look into. Check it out.
P.S. Dad how do you find these?!

Le Papillon
One of my good friends saw this movie in a class and thought/knew I would love it. She knows me well. It's adorable. And I will probably buy it. During the end credits they play this song. It captures the back and forth nature of Elsa and Julien; Elsa always asking questions, Julien answering with riddles. (The first comment under the video has the translation for when they speak in the middle of the song. Check that out too while you listen.) Anyways, I loved it. I loved the piano music throughout the movie and the song at the end. I loved the actors for Elsa and Julien. They played the part perfectly. Very cute movie.

Flipped
My family got this movie for Christmas and I finally got around to watching it. And I'm blogging about it so it obviously was a fantastic movie. The movie has the same feel to it as Little Manhattan. Okay, it's pretty much exactly the same, but Flipped has a bit more depth to it, more of a story, more character development, and both sides are shown throughout the movie. Plus I love the time period and the look of the cinematography in Flipped. And honestly, that boy is straight up adorable. Adorable sounds strange, but I am 20, and he is portraying a boy in jr. high and I don't want to sound completely creepy. But come on, that face has major potential. I mean what 16 year old looks like this?! Ah the injustice of life. But hey, someone has to get all the looks right?

Day 14
A photo of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day
I kind of love Doris Day. I wish I had her voice. Mostly I love this movie, Calamity Jane. Definitely one of her best films.

Day 3
My Favorite Movie
The Fall
I was introduced to this movie near the end of 2008 by my dad, who has extremely similar tastes in movies as I do. We seem to favor a different flavor of movies and this is definitely one of them. You either love this movie, or you hate it, and those that hate it, don't really understand what they're watching or the background to making this movie. I think that's one of the reasons why I love this film so much, it's because everyone was against the film maker, no one would fund him so he sold almost everything except his house. He's had this story line in his head for 16 years and when his friend found the perfect little girl for the part, he started filming. Every place that's in this film, is real. He traveled to over 20 countries. Gorgeous cinematography.
If you grew up playing "make believe", inserting yourself into these fictional stories, you'll see all the connections in this movie.
If you watch this and don't like it, don't tell me.

Silent Film
So the song I've been loving this week is Wordplay: by Jason Mraz. I just love it.
Well, Heather and I thought it would be really fun to do a double date at The Organ Loft to see a silent film. My dad took the family along with the Lord's family and we saw a comedy there a long time ago, and it honestly has really fun. Well the organ loft was showing the Count of Monte Cristo, which we thought would be brilliant to go see. Well it turns out that it's almost painful to watch 2 hours of non-comedy silent film with organ music the entire time. That movie was so long and those chairs so hard, that date did not go as I planned. It was definitely an experience nonetheless. But we've come to the conclusion that if you are going to see a silent film at the organ loft, ONLY watch comedies. They're much shorter and more enjoyable. Plus, less confusing.

Yes finally!!
PAHAHHA I can't even begin to tell you how long I've been looking for these videos... They are awesome. I first was introduced to these beauties in Hawaii I believe from either Paige or Heather... and I haven't been able to find them until now! So this first video is Asian girls teaching you english in case you don't speak it and you come to America and get robbed... apparently that's the first thing that's going to happen to you when you come to America. But to make things more interesting they make it into a workout! It's basically hilarious

New Found Love
Angels and Demons comes out to theaters May 15th! Such an amazing book... if you haven't read it, get on it!
And a movie introduced to me by my sister that I am now in love with... The Painted Veil.

This movie has gorgeous interesting music, piano that has a feel of sad almost slow-motion circus act going on..which i know sounds weird but I loved it. You have the River Waltz. And the one that's more slow motion circus is Gnossienne No. 1. Another song I loved is a french childrens folk song called A La Claire Fontaine. It's just a simple cute song, and I love listening to foreign languages in songs as it is...so this one was destined to be one i'd love. The chorus translates to "So long I've been loving you, I will never forget you." Which brings a huge meaning to that point in the movie. But anyways, it's gorgeous. The movie has what I want to say as a sense of color tone... the whole thing is in a different color tone. If you've seen the Illusionist or Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, you know what I mean.

Shows
So I saw Twilight of course! But i got to see the premier at 7 oclock! It was soo much fun, Melanie Brower is amazing and so cute. When you walked into the theater you got a VIP pass and on the back you could either find a black scribble, red scribble, and different sayings. I had a black scribble so i got a bookmark. Some of the others were 'bella's perfume' and that person got perfume that i guess has just been made and titled bella's perfume. If it said 'Edward' then you got a black sparkly blanket and 'icy cold' gum. If it said 'Jacob' then you got a brown fuzzy blanket and 'red hot' gum! hahah She's cleaver. But I did like the movie. I went in with no expectations....so maybe that's why they did better then i thought! But i was surprised! The actors were really good! I liked it.
I also got to see Aida at the Hale Center Theater with miss sophie hall! Love her. But the show was absolutely amazing! and i could see that musical over and over again and love it everytime. We were belting aida songs all the drive home :)

What is this! A center for ants!!??
I love my cashier girls. I really think we were meant to be sisters, we pretty much are. :D It's crazy how all of us get along so well. At my other job, there were always people you would rather have quit then hang out with. But we're cool. hahha We have cashier parties every month or month and a half probably. We try to plan things, but in all reality we sit around a table and laugh our faces off.
So last night, well misses alyssa and ashley h. had not seen zoolander!!! So by all means OF COURSE that show!! Ariel was hysterical to watch; when she starts laughing hard she has to hit something and then bend forward and rock back and forth. hahah i know... Karyn has the funniest laugh and was dying last night! Alyssa laughed at some lame part..not even really that funny but she laughed, and all of us girls were like, "Sure laugh at that part and nothing else!" And cute alyssa responded, "that's the only part i got out of the movie..." So karyn's sent into fits of laughter for 5 min straight, and then randomly at the end of the movie for the same reason :D Really, we are way too weird but i absolutely love it. We have a camping trip coming up in Aug... so we'll see how we survive that. And the next time we have a movie night... we're not starting Grease right when i have to leave!!! traitors..

Windows down
The best way to drive home from school equals the combination of windows down, and blaring music that we party to, along with the questioning sidelong glances from passing drivers. Windy days are also a plus, it adds umph to the hair when you turn corners. Because your hair gets blown on only one side, so you have flailing hair poofed out to extremeties, but it's only half of your hair! Good party-burst-your-lungs-singin-songs: Here in your arms, Grace Kelly, Without Love, Boy from new york city, brink of disaster, Carry on my wayward son, Come go with me, that's how you know, the curse of curves, there's a class for this, I want you back...and as many others as you can think of.
For all you devoted Twilight fans like myself..here's a clip showing all the characters they've picked out for the movie. Enjoy!
